Ananya Tanttu

Ananya Tanttu (b.1994) is a Helsinki-based photographer and video artist who uses lens-based media as a means of creative self-expression. Her approach is primarily autobiographical, illustrating a yearning for an element of the sublime in her immediate reality. Sincerely, yet playfully, she depicts a narrative on both metaphysical and material layers of existence, and seeks out subjective symbolism, which in turn creates a personal mythology of sorts.

“My aspiration is for a photograph to transcend its representation, and for it to echo something of the inherent ritualistic and sacred nature of art. I am endlessly intrigued and inspired by the natural world, the human search for meaning, ancient cultures, a need for belonging, and the sheer simplicity of being.”
