Anna Niskanen

Anna Niskanen is a visual artist from Helsinki who graduated from Aalto University with a master’s degree in photography in 2017. Her works are prints of graphics based on photography, in which she deals with remembering nature, landscape and place. There are digital stages in Niskanen’s work, but the results rely on traditional analog methods of photography. Cyanotype is an old photo imprinting method in which a photosensitive emulsion is applied to a desired surface, exposed to sunlight, and washed with water. In recent years, Niskanen has held numerous exhibitions in Finland and abroad, for e.g. Wäinö Aaltonen Museum, Lianzhou Foto Festival and Mänttä Fine Arts Weeks, as well as private exhibitions at Vaasa Art Hall, Porvoo Art Hall, Huuto and Íslensk Grafík Gallery. Her works are in the collection of the State Art Commission, housed in the new Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maritime Barracks. Anna is also a founding member of the Kosminen Art Space in Punavuori.
