Eija Zweygberg is a textile artist from Helsinki. She graduated into her dream professions at a later age; she became a textile designer at the age of 40, and an interior architect at the age of 54. Architecture, interiors and art in their various forms are an endless source of inspiration for her. Eija is interested in collaborating with artists, designers and craftsmen from different fields.

“For several years I was a member of a collective made up of designers who made textile graffiti works and involved city residents of different ages in the creation. I have also had the opportunity to work in an architecture school for children and young people, and in a clay workshop. Those experiences have had a liberating effect on me. My work has become bolder in the way that I plan less and give more room for chance. Textile works are often born spontaneously, as if under the guise of play. Embroidering fabric is my passion. I paint and draw with threads. In my work, I use recycled and surplus material as much as possible. The mini rug textiles, which I call fluff pieces, began to be born a few years ago in a residency in Paris. I combined fluff and embroidery into small works that are easy to make anywhere and fit in a handbag.”
