Photographic artist Ritva Kovalainen has been working on multi-year art projects since the early 1990s, which have resulted in several large museum exhibitions, books and even films. Kovalainen has dealt with the relationship between man and nature in her works.; trees and forests have been especially close to her heart. The most recent filming locations have been Finnish natural forests. The unique forest preserved in national parks and nature reserves play a central role in Kovalainen’s latest video pieces Poecile poetica and Virtaava metsä, as well as in the book Pohjoistuulen metsä (2023) and the exhibition realized with Sanni Seppo.
