Ananya Tanttu

Ananya Tanttu

Ananya Tanttu (b.1994) is a Finnish photographer and video artist who uses lens-based media as a means of creative self-expression. Her approach is primarily autobiographical, illustrating a yearning for an element of the sublime in her immediate reality. Sincerely, yet playfully, she depicts a narrative on both metaphysical and material layers of existence, and seeks out subjective symbolism, which in turn creates a personal mythology of sorts. Alongside her artistic practice, Tanttu works extensively with moving and still images in collaborative projects. She is currently completing her MFA degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. She has been a part of the Lokal team since the gallery’s founding in 2012.
